Iowa State Fair and Iowa America 250

In 2026, people across the United States will commemorate the founding of our nation on the 250^th anniversary of the writing of the Declaration of Independence. All Iowans are invited to reflect on our founding principles of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness throughout 2026 with events and programs in their communities, including at the 2026 Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, August 13-23.

The Iowa State Fair will celebrate the spirit of America with our own nod to our nation's founding. Much like "The Spirit of Iowa '76" that was held during the 1976 Iowa State Fair celebrating the nation's bicentennial, attractions in 2026 will focus on agriculture, industry and the American dream. Iowans have always sustained themselves and fed others across the nation and around the world. Celebrating America's 250th anniversary will allow the Iowa State Fair to salute the sacrifices of the great Americans who built our country, and celebrate the innovation that will power our prosperous future.
