During the Fair, The Kitchen, located in Maytag Family Theaters, is a popular demonstration kitchen for anything from cuts of meat to barbecue, cake decorating, charcuterie and cooking with honey. From November through April, watch for interactive, educational and fun cooking classes for all skill levels. Learn from local experts, using local products.
Roll up your sleeves and step into the kitchen for Pastry 101 with JessDesserts on March 21, 2026, in the Kitchen at the Maytag Family Theaters on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. In this hands-on class, participants will learn the fundamentals of creating perfectly flaky pastries, guided by expert tips and techniques. Best of all, you’ll leave with a fresh batch of homemade pastries—sweet rewards you can share or savor yourself.
