Volunteer
There are thousands of ways to get involved in the Fair from volunteers to sponsors, and we couldn't do it without you. If you already volunteer or serve as a sponsor, thank you. If you are looking for a place to get involved, there are opportunities waiting for you!
Little Hands on the Farm
Fundraising Opportunity
Little Hands on the Farm teaches children about the importance of agriculture and how it impacts their daily lives in a fun and interactive way. Children ages 2 to 10 become farmers at this popular free, hands-on exhibit and volunteers are needed throughout the exhibit each day. For more information, contact Emily Wynn at ewynn@iowastatefair.org or call 515.401.1544.
Have You Herd?
The Iowa State Fair wants to showcase youth exhibitors in both 4-H and FFA and provide livestock education! Exhibitors may be from a variety of backgrounds and ages and will be giving live animal demonstrations about raising and showing sheep, swine, beef, dairy, goats and rabbits. Exhibitors must be exhibiting at the Iowa State Fair. Demonstrations are around 30 minutes, including time for question and answer. Parade
Be part of the crew that helps put on the state's largest parade and kick-off for the Iowa State Fair! Volunteers are needed to help facilitate many areas, including staging, barricades and dispersion. For information on volunteering, contact Liz Ley at lley@iowastatefair.org.
We'll have parade volunteer opportunities beginning at 4 p.m. on August 6.
- Staging Lot - Greet parade entrants and line them up in numerical order, provide parking directions and help non-parade traffic out of the area.
- Barricade/Traffic - Direct non-parade traffic around the staging area and help parade entries find their staging lot.
- Parade Route - Keep spectators off the parade route, answer questions from spectators, and monitor parade entries.
- End of Route/Dispersion - Direct parade entries (vehicles and walkers) off the parade route at the end so they do not stop on the route causing backups.
