Off-Seasons Camping

The Iowa State Fair campgrounds are open during non-Fair time the following times of the year:

• April 16-July 21, 2026
• August 24-October 18, 2026

Although there are numerous hotels and motels in the area some event organizers and guests prefer taking advantage of our 160-acre campsite. There are plenty of campsites available now with country comforts alongside city conveniences. Campers enjoy the best of both worlds — the natural beauty of gently rolling woodlands plus the modern amenities of water and electrical hookups. Best of all, campers will find themselves a short stroll away from the many buildings that dot the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Our campgrounds’ staff is ready to make your stay safe, comfortable and economical. Campers are welcomed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fair Time Camping

During the Fair, the Campgrounds house more than 2,300 sites with full hook ups, including 734 partial sites and three large bathhouses. The beautiful, 160-acre Iowa State Fair Campgrounds are home to century-old trees, woodland flora and small wildlife. The Campgrounds are easy to find and conveniently located just off Interstates 80 and 35.
