Young Cooks Create Award-Winning Iowa State Fair Food On-A-Stick

Contestants in the Fair on-a-Stick competition, judged Friday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair, were challenged to create a food item on a stick that represents the Fair.
Cameryn Clifton of Ankeny won first place in the Ages 11-16 class of competition. Macy Yoder of Urbandale earned second place.
In the ages 6-10 class, Madeline Davis of Pleasant Hill was awarded first place. Scout Claussen of Des Moines took second place.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 177 divisions, 769 classes and over 9,856 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
