Food - Taste of Honey Challenge

Emerson Noelle Hilbert of Urbandale won First Place Overall and a $150 cash award in the Taste of Honey Challenge competition, judged Saturday, August 13, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Participants were challenged to create breads, desserts, dressings, appetizers and snacks that use honey as the sole sweetener.

Entries were judged on taste, best use of honey and appearance.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air Adventure Park.
