Winterset Cook Achieves Pasta Perfect at State Fair

Susie Jones of Winterset won first place and a $300 gift card in the Rana Pasta Creations competition judged Friday, August 11, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Sara Carlson of Des Moines earned second place and a $200 gift card. Pamela Lang of Johnston claimed third place and a $100 gift card.

Lang also received a special award and a $50 gift card for the Most Rana Products Used in an entry.

Contestants were challenged to create an award-winning recipe using Rana Pasta products.

Entries were judged on taste.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
