Family Recipe Books Claim State Fair Prizes

Pam Dircks of Marion won first place in the Our Family Recipe Book competition judged Monday, August 14, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Sara Doruska of Ankeny claimed second place and Monica Walz of Marion earned third place.

Entrants were challenged to construct an award-winning cook book that featured the tried and true recipes from their family.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
