Sharon Lesan of Ankeny won first place overall and a $150 cash award in the Let’s Have Tea Contest, judged Thursday, August 11, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.
Susie Jones of Winterset claimed second place overall and $100.
In the Tea Cookie class, Sharon Lesan of Ankeny won first place. Jamie Buelt of Polk City claimed second place, and Pamela Lang of Johnston earned third place.
Susie Jones of Winterset won first place in the Tea Sandwich class. Natalie Larson of Des Moines earned second place, and Jenny Petersen of Knoxville claimed third place.
Entries were judged on taste, appearance and creativity.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air Adventure Park.
