Food: Kid Sponsored Cookie Championship

Kids Bake State Fair Award-Winning Cookies

Nora Peterson of Knoxville won First Place Overall and a $100 cash award in the Kid Sponsored Cookie Championship competition judged Monday, August 12, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Caitlin Caffrey of Ankeny earned Second Place Overall and $50. Cora Oleson of Des Moines claimed Third Place Overall and $25.

Entries were judged on taste, appearance and accompanying story.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
