Food: Egg-ceptional Eggs Cooking Contest

Rebecca Howe of West Des Moines won both First and Second Places Overall and a total of $500 in cash awards in the Egg-Ceptional Eggs Cooking Contest, judged Tuesday, August 17, at the 2021 Iowa State Fair.

Bridget Lottman of Norwalk earned Third Place Overall and $100.

Each recipe entered by a contestant must be original, contain at least four whole eggs and contain a total of 12 ingredients or less.

Entries were judged on flavor, appearance, presentation, texture and ease of preparation.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 134 divisions, 603 classes and nearly 6500 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air.
