Delicious Dips Win State Fair Awards

The top savory dips were put to the test in the Bring Your Best Dip competition judged Wednesday, August 16, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Jenna Brady of Runnells won first place and a $175 cash award in the Hot Dip class of competition. Rex Schulze of Urbandale earned second place and $50. DeeDee Kennedy of Des Moines claimed third place and $25.

Pamela Reynolds of Norwalk won first place and $175 in the Cold Dip class. Susie Jones of Winterset claimed second place and $50. Pamela Lang of Johnston earned third place and $25.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
