Food - Best Fruit Cobbler, Bettie or Buckle

Sharon Lesan of Ankeny won first place and a $500 cash award in the Best Fruit Cobbler, Bettie or Buckle contest judges Sunday, August 14, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Dee Dee Kennedy of Des Moines claimed second place and $250. Susie Jones of Winterset earned third place and $125.

Entries were judged on taste, originality and appearance.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air Adventure Park.
