Potato Dishes Win Prizes at State Fair

Ann Gillotti of Ankeny won first place and $100 in the Spud Studs contest judged Friday, August 18, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Pamela Reynolds of Norwalk won second place and $50, and Samantha Streff of Ankeny claimed third place and $25.

Honorable mention was awarded to Sara Carlson of Des Moines.

Entries were judged on taste and creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging was held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
