Chicken and Noodles Champion Crowned at State Fair

Christina McClearly of Des Moines won first place and a $100 cash award in the Winner Winner Chicken Noodle Dinner competition judged Friday, August 11, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Teresa Little of Des Moines claimed second place and $75. Jacqueline Riekena of Des Moines earned third place and $50.

Entries were judged on taste, appearance and story about why the dish is special to the entrant.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
