Top Iowa Chefs Feature Maytag Blue Cheese In Top Creations

Alisa Woods of Des Moines won first place and a $500 cash award in the Professional Chefs Using Maytag Dairy Farms Blue Cheese competition judged Saturday, August 12, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Tag Grandgeorge of Des Moines claimed second place and $250. Range Restaurant of Urbandale earned third place and $100.

Entries were judged on flavor pairing, creativity and presentation.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
