Food - Breads and Spreads

Heather Collier of Des Moines won first place and a $60 cash award in the Breads and Spreads competition, judged Saturday, August 13, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Amy Fuson of Indianola earned second place and $30. Marcia Trevillyan of West Des Moines claimed third place and $10.

Entrants were challenged to bake an award winning bread and accompany it with a dip or spread that complemented the loaf.

Entries were judged on taste and appearance

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air Adventure Park.
