Des Moines Cook Claims Fair Party Dip Crown

Sharon Gates of Des Moines won first place and a $100 cash award in the AllSpice Party Dip Contest, judged Monday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

Rebecca Howe of West Des Moines earned second place.  Kyle Barton of West Des Moines claimed third place.

Judges also awarded Honorable Mention to Bridget Lottman of Norwalk.

Entries were judged on flavor balance, creativity and “dipability.”

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 177 divisions, 769 classes and over 9,856 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
