Barker Wins Cookie of the Year Award at Iowa State Fair

Diana Barker of Indianola won first place in the Hotel Pattee Cookie of the Year contest judged Sunday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.
Jordyn Siepker of Des Moines earned second place and Karen Steggerda of Urbandale received third place.
Contestants were asked to create a special cookie recipe for Hotel Pattee to serve their guests for the next 12 months. The hotel provides their guests with complimentary cookies each night.
Entries were judged on taste, ease of preparation and appearance.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 177 divisions, 769 classes and over 9,856 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
