IFAA celebrates record-setting $734,000 sale and awards 93 scholarships totaling $239,600

Records were broken at the 2026 Iowa State Fair as the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement (IFAA) celebrated an all-time record of $734,000 at the Sale of Champions on Saturday, August 22.

Sixteen 4-H and FFA exhibitors from across Iowa earned the opportunity to sell their champion livestock during the prestigious Sale of Champions. Thanks to the generosity of businesses, organizations, individuals and hometown supporters, the 2026 sale surpassed all previous totals in IFAA history.

The record-breaking day was highlighted by the Grand Champion FFA Market Hog, exhibited by Jillian Woodruff of Moorland, which sold for $155,000 and established a new Sale of Champions record. Several additional lots also reached record-setting prices, demonstrating the tremendous support behind Iowa's youth livestock exhibitors.

“The 2026 Sale of Champions was truly a historic day for the IFAA and, most importantly, for the young people we have the privilege of recognizing,” said IFAA Treasurer Josh Williams. “The $734,000 sale total reflects the incredible generosity of the companies, organizations and individuals who believe in these exhibitors and the future of Iowa agriculture. These young people work throughout the year for the opportunity to exhibit at the Iowa State Fair, and we are proud to celebrate their hard work and dedication through the Sale of Champions.”

The Sale of Champions was one part of a significant day of investment in Iowa's agricultural youth. Earlier Saturday, the IFAA recognized 93 scholarship recipients and awarded $239,600 in scholarships to students pursuing post-secondary education.

Established in 1988, the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement works to recognize Iowa's outstanding 4-H and FFA members and support young people pursuing careers in agriculture. Through its scholarship programs and the Iowa State Fair Sale of Champions, the organization connects agricultural youth with individuals and businesses committed to investing in the future of the industry.

The IFAA's scholarship program provides merit-based financial awards to students who demonstrate achievement, leadership and a commitment to continuing their education in agriculture-related fields. Support from donors and partners makes it possible for the organization to invest in students who will become the next generation of agricultural leaders.
