Top Grocery Bagger Crowned at State Fair

The best grocery baggers from across Iowa put their skills to the test in the Iowa Grocery Industry's Best Bagger Contest, held Friday, August 14, at the 2026 Iowa State Fair.

Each contestant bags identical grocery orders, consisting of approximately 35 commonly purchased items, into three reusable grocery bags. Participants are scored primarily on weight distribution among bags, speed and proper item arrangement.

Competition Results:

2nd - Daven Peterson, Fareway Boone
3rd - River Tygret-Ross, Hy-Vee Ankeny Prairie Trail
4th - Jackson Wolf, Fareway, Clear Lake
