The following describes how the seats are numbered within each section. Left is considered to the left of the entertainer as they are facing the audience (stage left) and right is to the right of the entertainer as they are facing the audience (stage right).
Rows 1-14 are in the lower tier of the Grandstand. Rows 15-31 are on the upper level. Most section seats are numbered 1-25. Number 1 is the left-most seat in the section, with seat numbers increasing to the right-most seat in that section.
All bags and backpacks are subject to search upon entry to the Grandstand. Refusal to comply will result in denied entry. Prohibited items include: weapons of any kind; bottles, cans, coolers; video or tape recorders (still photos may be taken at the discretion of the performer).
COVID-19 Safety Questions
How can I stay safe?
Recommendations for everyday preventative actions include:
- Staying home when sick
- Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Following proper coughing etiquette
- Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
- Avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
If you have a compromised immune system, please check with your health care provider to determine your own risks before attending events or traveling.
Is social distancing required?
The Iowa State Fair Grandstand is located outdoors, and at this time, all seats are on sale.
Are masks required?
All safety precautions will be followed per CDC guidelines in August 2021. Ticket purchasers will receive information through the email address provided when purchasing tickets through Etix.
Are vaccines required?

What about refunds?
If the concert is postponed or rescheduled, you will receive ticketing instructions through the email address provided at purchase. If the show is cancelled, you will receive a refund automatically through E-tix the official ticket vendor of the Iowa State Fair. If you purchased your tickets through a third party, you will need to contact them directly about their refund policies and procedures.
I purchased tickets to see performances in the 2020 Iowa State Fair Grandstand. What do I do with my ticket(s)? If the concert has been rescheduled, your seats are safe for 2021. Information to request a refund within 30 days will be emailed to you through Etix, the official Iowa State Fair ticket source. If you purchased your tickets through a third party vendor, you will need to contact them directly. If the concert is rescheduled for 2021, you can hold onto your ticket for the new dates in 2021. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to reschedule KIDZ Bop, Bethel Music, or Hairball on the Grandstand. If you purchased tickets through Etix, you received information about refunds through email.
I won Grandstand tickets through a contest or promotion or radio station? What can I do with them? Lucky duck! Hang onto those tickets and they will still be good for rescheduled concerts in 2021. If the show was not rescheduled, there is a $0 refund value.
