Jello Creations Win Ribbons At State Fair

Johnston’s Rosemary Ridgway was awarded First Place Overall in the Jello contest judged Thursday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair. Ridgway’s Peach Ice Cream claimed first place in the Dessert category en route to the overall title.
Deanna Smith of Des Moines took Second Place Overall with her Strawberry Spinach Salad, which also placed first in the Salad division. Anita Van Gundy of Des Moines earned Third Place Overall with her Orange Dream Pie.
In the Salad division, Van Gundy earned second place, and third place went to Virginia Ogan of Osceola. An honorable mention was awarded to James Martz of Des Moines.
Van Gundy also took second place in the Dessert division, and Lisa Baumhover of Woodward earned third.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
