Cowgirl Queens Crowned at Iowa State Fair

Taylor Kivell of Truro was crowned Senior Cowgirl Queen Friday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair. Rilee Proffitt of Knoxville earned the title of Junior Cowgirl Queen.
The Senior Cowgirl Queen Attendants include the four runners-up in the competition for young women ages16 to 26. The attendants are Jessica Iserman of Dyersville, Jessica Taylor of Granger, Mikayla Pfab of Granger and Brittney Kincaid of Ankeny.
The Junior Cowgirl Attendants are selected from competitors ages 10 to 15 and include Mallory Vroegh of Granger, Brittany Abernathy of Indianola, Gabrielle Weatherwax of Ankeny and Rebecca Ness of Muscatine.
Both Cowgirl Queens received $125 and awards including a sterling silver and 14-karat gold buckle. Their attendants also received cash prizes.
Judges in the Cowgirl Queen contest considered both appearance, including beauty, attractiveness and appropriateness of Western wear, and horsemanship.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2011 Iowa State Fair, celebrating 100 years of the Butter Cow August 11-21.
