Sweet Win for Johnston Baker in State Fair Sugar Cookie Contest

Rose Ridgway of Johnston won first place and a $50 cash award in the Favorite Frosted Sugar Cookie competition judged Saturday, August 11, at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.
Robin Tarbell-Thomas of Centerville earned second place and Cindy McCardle of Independence claimed third place.
Judges also awarded Honorable mention to Judy Kiburz-Harrison of Tingley and Sherry Murtle of Des Moines.
Entrants were tasked to create an award worthy frosted sugar cookie and accompany it with a story about the cookie recipe
Entries were judged on taste, appearance and story.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 171 divisions, 727 classes and over 9,574 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
