Ramen Noodles Star in State Fair Cooking Contest

A collegiate food staple was elevated to haute cuisine in the Creative with Ramen Noodles competition judged Saturday at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.
Competitors were challenged to create a dish utilizing ramen noodles and the noodle seasoning packet as key ingredients.
Cameryn Clifton of Ankeny won First Place Overall. Brenda Becker of Pella earned Second Place Overall.
Entries were judged on appearance, taste, ease of preparation and best use of ramen.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 171 divisions, 727 classes and over 9,574 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
