The battle for corn stalk supremacy has been claimed by Silver Lake, Kansas farmer Casey Perkins.
Perkins’ entry of 21 feet 11 inches won first place and a $75 cash award in the America’s Tall Corn competition judged Wednesday, August 7, prior to the start of the 2019 Iowa State Fair.
In the Iowa Division of competition, Abby Stein of Manson won first place and a $50 cash award for an entry of 17 feet 2 inches.
Blake Siefken of Woodbine earned second place and $25 with an entry of 14 feet 4 inches. Roger Barry of Woodbine claimed third place and $15 with a stalk measuring 14 feet 1 inch.
The winning corn stalks are on display in Pioneer Hall.
