Youngsters put their best Mom call to work in the Mom Calling Contest judged Friday, August 16 at the 2019 Iowa State Fair.
In the Age 5 through 9 class of competition, Logan Keunnen of Osage won first place, while Weston Burger from Des Moines and Ada Mueller from Cedar Rapids took second and third.
Claire Welk of Des Moines won first place in the ages 10 to 15 division. Isabell Wood from Dubuque and Payton Phelan won third place.
The contest was part of “Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions” in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
The Iowa State Fair is one of the oldest and largest agricultural and industrial expositions in the country and the single largest event in the state.
