McDonald Acres Boar Claims Iowa State Fair Crown

“Big Buck,” a Hampshire boar from Ryan, bested the competition to claim the Big Boar title at the 2017 Iowa State Fair. The champion boar owned by McDonald Acres tipped the scale at 1,192 pounds.
“Big Chief,” owned by Charlie Bieber and Ken Kehrli of Winthrop, claimed second place weighing 1,162 pounds.
The Big Boar contest had 10 entries.
The Big Boar, as well as the Big Ram and Super Bull, will be on display at the Iowa State Fair in the Swine, Sheep and Cattle Barns respectively through August 20.
