Mamma Mia! Des Moines Cook Wins Fair Pasta Title

Diane Rauh of Des Moines won First Place Overall in the Barilla Pasta and Sauce competition, judged Sunday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.
Helen Wall of Alden earned Second Place Overall and Kris Davis Johnson of Altoona claimed Third Place Overall.
Entrants were challenged to create an entrée or salad featuring a Barilla pasta or sauce.
Entries were judged on taste, appearance, best use of product and creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 177 divisions, 769 classes and over 9,856 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
