Heavenly Angel Food Cake Wins Fair Title for Des Moines Baker

Cody Edwards of Des Moines won first place and a $100 cash award in the Homemade Angel Food competition, judged Sunday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.
Terri Treft of Sioux City claimed second place and $75. Belinda Myers of Osceola earned third place and $50.
Judges also awarded Honorable Mention to Emily Akkermann of Prescott.
Entries were judged on texture, taste, appearance and creativity.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 177 divisions, 769 classes and over 9,856 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
