Pat Coughlin of Des Moines, Iowa, won Grand Champion honors and Most Number of Lights Used in the annual Campground Lighting Contest, judged Friday, August 16 at the 2019 Iowa State Fair. Pat earned free camping for the entire 2020 Fair.
Jim Carroll of Russell won Reserve Champion Overall, winning eleven free admission tickets to the 2020 Fair. Schaffer and Hoffman of Polk won showmanship. Most Original Entry went to Greg Watsabaugh of Humeston, and Dorothy Smith of Bloomfield earned the title of Best Use of State Fair Theme.
The Iowa State Fair is one of the oldest and largest agricultural and industrial expositions in the country and the single largest event in the state. The Fair began over 160 years ago and is now considered one of the best events in the nation, attracting more than one million Fairgoers every year from all over the world.
