Cinnamon Weigel of Van Meter won first place and a $150 cash award in the Wild Game contest, judged Wednesday, August 18, at the 2021 Iowa State Fair.
Terri Treft of Sioux City claimed second place and $75. Ileen Wallace of Council Bluffs earned third place and $25.
Contestants were challenged to create an award winning entrée made with wild Iowa game.
Entries were judged on taste, uniqueness, appearance and best use of game.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 134 divisions, 603 classes and nearly 6500 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air.
