Food - Get Lambasted with Flavor

Cheryl Rogers of Ankeny won first place and a $250 cash award in the Get Lambasted with Flavor competition judged Tuesday, August 16, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Sharon Lesan of Ankeny earned second place and a $150 cash award.

Contestants were challenged to create an award winning barbeque style dish featuring leg of lamb.

Entries were judged on flavor, tenderness, presentation and creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air Adventure Park.
