Food - Best Templeton Rye Appetizer

Jacqueline Riekena of West Des Moines won first place and $500 in the Best Templeton Rye Appetizer competition, judged Friday, August 19, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Norita Solt of Davenport earned second place and $300, and Ann Gillotti of Ankeny claimed third place and $200.

Entries were judged on flavor, presentation and overall incorporation of Templeton Rye.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air Adventure Park.
