State Fair Corn Salad Crown Claimed by Ankeny Cook

Ann Gillotti of Ankeny won first place and a $175 cash award in the Best Iowa Corn Salad competition judged Monday, August 14, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Jamie Buelt of Polk City earned second place and $75. Marcia Trevillyan of West Des Moines claimed third place and $50.

Judges also awarded Honorable Mention to Cheryl Rogers of Ankeny.

Entries were judged on flavor, creativity and presentation.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
