Breaking Out the Best Cookies at the Iowa State Fair

Rita Cashman Becker of Fort Madison received first place honors in the new Your Winningest Cookie Creation contest on Saturday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair. Cashman Becker also received a free tax return from H & R Block.
Robin Tarbell -Thomas of Centerville received second place and Linda Anderson of Urbandale received third place.
Honorable Mention was awarded to Brenda Becker of Pella.
All contestants had to prepare six cookies on a white plate to be judged on creativity and taste.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 177 divisions, 769 classes and over 9,856 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
