Big Boar Contest

“Captain,” the 3 ½ year old Crossbred bested the competition to claim the Big Boar title at the 2019 Iowa State Fair, weighing 1,254 pounds.
The winning entry is owned by Bryan and Tricia Britt of Monticello.
Second place was claimed by “Brutus,” a 3 ½ year old Crossbred weighing 1,188 pounds and owned by Marv Reitema of Sioux Center,
“Slim,” the 6 year old Crossbred owned by Laurie Farms of Indianola earned third place weighing in at 1,170 pounds.
The Big Boar, along with the Big Ram and Super Bull, will be on display at the Iowa State Fair in the Swine, Sheep and Cattle Barns respectively, through the end of the Fair.
The Iowa State Fair is one of the oldest and largest agricultural and industrial expositions in the country and the single largest event in the state. The Fair began over 160 years ago and is now considered one of the best events in the nation. Attracting more than one million Fairgoers every year from all over the world, truly nothing compares!
