Food - Always Room for Desserts

Desserts made with Crisco were the focus of the Always Room for Dessert contest, judged Thursday, August 11, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Ann Gillotti of Ankeny won first place and $200.

Landi Livingston of Shannon City earned second place, and Jennifer Goellner of West Des Moines claimed third place.

Entries were judged on flavor, appearance, texture and best use of Crisco.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year’s Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air Adventure Park.
