With so much adventure and excitement to experience here at the Iowa State Fair, here’s a brief recap of what you may have missed today and what to expect tomorrow.
Wesley Desaulniers, 25, of Grimes won first place in the Adult Piano playing competition. Joe Desaulniers, 28, of Mingo earned second place and Clayton Allen, 17, of Leon claimed third place.
The Keyboard Accordion competition was won by Sue Kroeker, 63, of Audubon. Dan Steenhard, 59, of Sheffield won top honors in the Button Accordion class of competition.
Moe Moeller, 87, of Beaman won first place in the Adult Harmonica Playing competition. 16-year old Louis Carona of Marion claimed the top spot in the youth class.
Coming Up Wednesday, August 19
- The Grand Outlaw National Tractor and Truck Pull begins at 2 p.m. at the Grandstand.
- Stock Dog Trails begin at 8 a.m. in the Outdoor Arena which is located east of the Swine Barn.
- The Speed Chess Tournament begins at 5:30 p.m. Registration starts 5:00 p.m.
- The country rock band The Kentucky HeadHunters perform on the MidAmerican Energy Stage at 8 p.m.
