For groups wanting to host a gathering at the Fair, there are several options.

Polk County Farm Bureau Shelter

Host your summer outing in the middle of the action at the Iowa State Fair. The 40 x 60-foot shelter is tucked behind Pioneer Pavilion and can accommodate up to 250 guests. The shelter rental is $700 for a full day (8 a.m. to 9 p.m.) or $400 for a half day (8 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.).

The shelter rental includes:

  • 25 picnic tables
  • Garbage cans
  • Electrical outlets
  • Water source(s)
  • 1 complimentary move-in/move-out pass with parking access
  • Conveniently located restrooms
  • On-site or off-site catering options

Catering choices include on or off-site caters for food only. All beer purchases must be purchased from an on-site caterer.

Fair Restaurants

In addition to our on-site shelter, the following Fair restaurants are able to accommodate groups. Please contact the restaurants directly to inquire about availability.

Diamond Jack's

Diamond Jack's is located on Rock Island across from Pioneer Livestock Pavilion. This two-story structure has a western theme and offers an outside balcony and patio. If dancing is what you are looking for, the house band plays nightly at 6 p.m. and afternoons are filled with live entertainment too!

Diamond Jack's can accommodate up to 75 people from 10 a.m. to Midnight every day of the Fair in a private area and bar with a front balcony that overlooks the Fairgrounds. Menu choices include everything from appetizers to plated meals and buffets. Menu choices include prime rib, BBQ St. Louis ribs, hickory smoked pulled pork, pulled chicken breast, hickory smoked beef brisket, grilled Iowa chops, Iowa sweet corn, foot longs, polish sausage, ½ pound tenderloins, salads, taco salads and Indian tacos. Appetizers include onion rings, hot wings, jalapeño poppers, deep fried pickle spears, cheese sticks, nachos with salsa and cheese, cheese platters, fresh fruit, brownies and pie. Beverages include more than 20 beers from around the world, wine, champagne, wine cookers, frozen margaritas and daiquiris and bloody marys. Parties of 25 or more may customize a menu in advance. The Depot

Located west of the Varied Industries Building on Grand Avenue, The Depot has a rock n' roll/sports bar theme. The Depot features a nightly DJ, a dance floor and eight televisions to watch the all the games.

The Depot can accommodate groups of 20 to 80 people from 8 a.m. to Midnight (excluding the first Friday night of the Fair). Menu options include a choice of a sandwich, French fries, and fountain drink. Kid's meals are a choice of a sandwich, French fries and kid's drink. Additional items include pizzas, walking tacos and nachos. Menu items must be chosen in advance. Non-Alcoholic and alcoholic beverages tickets are also available, please call for more information. Master Jack's Margarita Bar

Master Jack's is located underneath festive yellow and green tents on the Grand Concourse, west of the Grandstand. Master Jack's is the perfect place to sit, people watch and enjoy the daily live entertainment.

Master Jack's can accommodate up to 150 people from 10 a.m. to Midnight every day of the Fair for lunch, dinner or meetings. Private seating and bar area available. Menu formats range from sandwiches to buffets. Buffets include your choice of hickory smoked pulled park, pulled chicken breast, beef brisket, grilled Iowa chops, BBQ St. Louis ribs, ½ pound tenderloins, foot longs, polish sausage, salads and taco salads. Appetizers include onion rings, hot wings, jalapeño poppers, deep fried pickle spears, cheese sticks, cheese platters, fresh fruit and nacho chips and salsa. Old West Bar BQ

Old West Bar BQ is a western-themed restaurant located at the corner of Rock Island and Walnut, across from the Cattle Barn. Old West features various barbecued foods and cold beer with a patio that accommodates larger groups.

Old West Bar BQ can accommodate groups of 10 to 50 people from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Menu options include: dinner with your choice of beef ribs or barbecue chicken or Iowa pork chops with coleslaw and baked beans. Sandwich options are marinated chicken breast sandwiches, Philly cheese-steak sandwiches and smoked beef or smoked ham sandwiches. Chickens strips, French fries and onion rings are also offered. Beverages include Coke products, Budweiser and wine coolers. Cash is accepted for payment.

Stockman's Inn

Located at the southwest corner of the Cattle Barn, Stockman's has a country flavor and features live country and rock music every evening from 7 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.

Stockman's can seat up to 56 people in their air-conditioned dining room and up to 75 with the use of the adjacent patio beginning Wednesday (the day before the Fair starts) until the last Sunday of the Fair. Menu items include USDA choice steak, smoked pork chops, BBQ pork sandwiches, pork tenderloin sandwiches, smoked Angus brisket sandwiches, chicken breast sandwiches, bratwurst, burgers, seasoned fries, coleslaw and more. Specialty items may be ordered in advance and kid's meals are available. Beverages include Pepsi products, iced tea, lemonade, and several domestic and imported beers. Non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverage tickets are also available. Cash, check or pre-arranged billing options are accepted for payment.
