The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie
Very few rock performers have remained as vital through the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s as have Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman. Initially they made their mark with the Turtles, then they joined Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, and then they glided into their own Flo & Eddie persona, dishing out records that have encompassed a multitude of personalities. Some of their greatest hits include, “Happy Together,” “Elenore,” “She'd Rather Be With Me,” “It Ain't Me Babe,” “You Showed Me” and “You Baby.”
Mickey Dolenz
After selling more than 65 million records worldwide as the star of THE MONKEES TV show, Micky Dolenz has continued to make his mark in other areas of the entertainment business, through his varied career as an actor, director, producer and performer. Ultimately, The Monkees achieved their greatest success as recording artists. Their first four albums reached number one on the charts and they had three consecutive number one singles: "Clarksville," "I'm a Believer" and "Daydream Believer." The group's first five albums also went gold.
Gary Puckett & The Union Gap
Gary Puckett and the Union Gap was one of the most successful musical groups of the 60s. Puckett's unmistakable signature voice garnered six consecutive gold records and top ten Billboard hits, including: "Young Girl," "Woman Woman," "Lady Willpower" and "Over You." He has performed on more than 30 network television shows and prime time specials during his career, even adding a command performance for the President and Prince Charles at the White House.
The Grass Roots
Since their formation in 1965 The Grass Roots have gone on to chart 29 singles; 13 of which went gold followed by 2 gold albums and 1 platinum album. Their biggest hits include, “Let’s Live for Today,” “Midnight Confessions,” “Temptation Eyes” and “Sooner or Later.” In the entire history of rock n’ roll, only nine bands (including The Beatles) have charted more hits on Billboard’s Hot 100 than The Grass Roots. The band also set a record between 1967 and 1972 by being on the Billboard charts an unbelievable 307 straight weeks.
The Buckinghams
One of the most beloved and respected Chicago bands ever to explode onto the national scene, The Buckinghams’ number one song, “Kind of a Drag” is a standout favorite that first made them famous. Next came 7 national chart hits, 15 singles, and 8 acclaimed albums. The Buckinghams enjoyed phenomenal success with hit singles including the powerful “Don’t You Care”, the soulful “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy”, and the national anthem of teenage love, “Hey Baby, They’re Playing Our Song”, on the Top 10 charts simultaneously. Billboard Magazine named them “The Most Listened to Band in America.”
