The Charlie Daniels Band and 38 Special to Inaugurate Fairgrounds' New Jacobson Center
Tuesday, October 19, 2010 Des Moines, IA
Tickets Go On Sale This Saturday
The Charlie Daniels Band and 38 Special will headline the first-ever non-Fair concert Friday, November 12 in the new Richard O. Jacobson Exhibition Center on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Tickets for the 7 p.m. show are $20 and $28 and go on sale this Saturday through Ticketmaster.
The Charlie Daniels Band’s chart-busting hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” became a Platinum single, topped both country and pop charts, won a Grammy Award, earned three Country Music Association trophies and propelled Daniels’ Million Mile Reflections album to Triple Platinum sales levels. The band’s music knows no genre, hits like “In America,” “Uneasy Rider,” “The South’s Gonna Do It,” “Long Haired Country Boy,” “Still in Saigon,” and “The Legend of Wooley Swamp,” are a fine blend of folk, southern boogie, country fiddle and electric rock anthem.
38 Special’s many Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse. Most associate them with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more. The band’s timeless hits have paved the way to their present-day hard edge, immediately noticeable from the first opening chord.
Tickets for The Charlie Daniels Band and 38 Special concert go on sale Saturday, October 23 at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 1-800-745-3000. All tickets are reserved seating. Walk-up orders available beginning 4 p.m. day of show only at the Jacobson Center ticket window. Convenience charges will apply to all tickets. Concert parking is free.
The concert marks the first non-Fairtime concert in the new Richard O. Jacobson Exhibition Center. The
three-phase construction of the state-of-the-art facility began during the 2007 Fair and spanned nearly three years. Completed in time for the 2010 Fair, the building features an indoor arena, practice arena, meeting rooms and seating for up to 6,000. The climate-controlled building can accommodate numerous types of
year-round events.
