Kansas Replaces Lynyrd Skynyrd in State Fair Line-up

Legendary band Kansas will now co-headline the August 16 Iowa State Fair Grandstand show with Doobie Brothers. Lynyrd Skynyrd cancelled their appearance due to lead singer Johnny Van Zant’s hospitalization with complications from a previous surgery.

Original tickets will be honored.  Concert ticketholders who wish to attend the Kansas/Doobie Brothers show simply use their current ticket.  Those who do not want to attend the concert must return to where their tickets were purchased for a refund.  For more information visit www.ticketmaster.com.

With their first album in 1974, Kansas entered the music scene with a bold statement: “From the beginning, we considered ourselves and our music different and we hope we will always remain so.”  Since then, the band has remained true to their word, playing only their original music while achieving rock greatness with hits like “Carry on My Wayward Son,” “Dust in the Wind” and “Point of Know Return.”  One of the leading progressive rock bands in classic rock history, Kansas has topped the charts, producing eight gold albums, three sextuple-platinum albums and a million-selling gold single.  In 2000, the band went back to the studio to produce new music with all six of the original band members.  The result, “Somewhere to Elsewhere,” included 10 new songs. Now, Kansas continues to thrill audiences with rock favorites and more recent hits.

Tickets for the Kansas/Doobie Brothers show are still available for $46 through all Ticketmaster outlets and the State Fair Ticket Office on the Fairgrounds. All tickets are reserved seating. Convenience charges will apply to all tickets. Grandstand tickets do not include admission to the Fair.
