Fun Forest Packed with Kids' Entertainment at the 2010 State Fair

The 2010 Iowa State Fair is just around the corner, and this year the Hy-Vee Fun Forest is packed with a batch of “Non Stop Fun” perfect for kids. In addition to 1.5 acres of interactive fun equipped with play equipment, children’s stage shows run several times each day and are free with gate admission. The 2010 State Fair runs August 12-22.
Professional comedian and magician Erik “Doc” Anderson takes the Fun Forest Stage daily bringing some old-fashioned fun with a little humor and a lot of audience participation. Shows run daily at 11 a.m., 1, 3 and 5 p.m. (No 11 a.m. show on Friday, August 13.)
Emmy Award-winner Mallory Lewis brings joy and laughter to the Fun Forest Stage with her pal Lamb Chop and their routine of comedy, songs and interactive entertainment. Shows run daily at noon, 2 and 4 p.m. (No noon show on Friday, August 13.)
The Fast Horses delights audiences with its colorful presentation of the evolution of Native American music and dance including singing, costumes, storytelling and magic. Shows run daily at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. (No 11:30 a.m. show on Friday, August 13.)
In addition to the array of kid-friendly stage entertainment, youthful Fairgoers can flock to the Fun Forest for the VSA Iowa Fest, now celebrating its 31st year at the Fair. The festivities include a carnival with interactive games and art projects in addition to face painting, balloon sculptures and henna tattoos. Opening Ceremonies for the VSA Iowa Fest will be held on the Fun Forest Stage Friday, August 13, at 11 a.m. Also, back by popular demand, don’t miss the daily Art under the Tent demonstrations by local area artists.
All performances on the Fun Forest Stage are ASL interpreted.
