Emmy Award-winning singing group The Blenders are best known for their success recording a cappella holiday albums. This vocal harmony-based group has gained popular appeal for their unique style across a variety of musical genres.
The Minneapolis-based group started performing on local college campuses in the early 90s. They were named the National Association of Campus Activities’ Contemporary Artist of the Year in 1994 and 1995 and have since begun touring nationally.
In 1999, The Blenders recorded their first major label album, “Loveland,” with the hit-song “McDonald’s Girl.” The song, a remake of Dean Friedman’s original, climbed to number one in a handful of European countries and enjoyed similar success in the United States.
The group took a break from touring and recording in 2000 and returned in 2002 to record three Christmas albums: “When it Snows,” “Holiday Best” and “Most Wonderful Time.” They have since appeared with many well-known musicians and comedians like Chicago, Chuck Berry, The Righteous Brothers, Jay Leno and Howie Mandel. They continue to make television and radio appearances in addition to their hectic tour and recording schedules. Their most recent album, “Songs for the Soul,” was released in 2006. |
