West Des Moines Youth Impresses with Rhubarb in Iowa State Fair Foods Contest

Alex Johnson of West Des Moines took First Place Overall in the Rockin’ Rhubarb for Kidz contest judged Sunday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Janet Gallardo of Des Moines took Second Place Overall with Grandma’s and My Rhubarb Jam. Third Place Overall went to Marit Hovey of Norwalk and her Almond Rhubarb Coffee Cake.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
