Judges sampled wine-sweetened entries in the Jasper Wine and Counting contest judged Tuesday, August 14 at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Joyce Whipps of West Des Moines placed first in the competition. She was awarded a $25 gift certificate for her efforts.
Entries were judged on taste and originality.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in theElwellFamilyFoodCentersponsored by Blue Bunny.
