Two Green Thumbs Up for Ames Gardener in Bonsai Competition at State Fair

Ames resident Ron Heinen took home Best of Class Honors in the Bonsai division of the Floriculture competition judged Sunday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.
Heinen earned ribbons in four of the seven categories of the competition, including first place honors in the Deciduous Trees and Shohin categories.
In the novice division, gardener Craig Ball of Indianola earned both first and second place honors, while Chris Pike of Johnston placed third.
