Trevillyan Ready for Tasty Tea Time in State Fair Foods Contest

Daphane Trevillyan of Urbandale took home top honors in the Let’s Have Tea contest judged Saturday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair. Trevillyan’s Curried Chicken Tea Sandwiches took the blue ribbon in the Tea Sandwich division before being awarded First Place Overall in the contest featuring tea sandwiches and tea cookies.
Linda Asbille of Indianola took second in the Tea Sandwich division, while Rosemary Ridgway of Johnston took third in Tea Sandwiches and second in Tea Cookies.
Also in the Tea Cookie division, Cathy Jorgensen of Adel took first, Linda Galvin of Ames won third and Stephanie Hunter of Van Meter earned an honorable mention.
Entries were judged on taste, appearance and creativity.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
“Nothing Compares” to the 2011 Iowa State Fair, celebrating 100 years of the Butter Cow August 11-21.
